True Love Waits Commitment Ceremony

Commitments to purity

Picture
Several members of the FBC Youth Ministry recently made  purity covenants with God, promising to remain sexually pure until their wedding night.
The commitment goes beyond sexual abstinence to include: guarding what they say and how they say it, the things they listen to, what they watch and how they think.  The youth group was joined by a number of adults who have committed to pray for them and hold them accountable.
Parents presented tokens of remembrance to each student as symbols of their vows to God.

A biblical challenge

Picture
FBC Youth Pastor Eli Sepeda presented a biblical challenge to the students and adults before inviting them to commit to holy living during the True Love Waits commitment ceremony.  Bro. Eli reminded all in attendance of the commands and plans of God and about the seriousness of making a solemn vow to God.

Letters from home

Parents wrote their children personal letters and offered words of encouragement during the commitment ceremony.  The intimate moments between parents and children were among the highlights of the night.

Love is...

Kelly Davis reads from 1 Corinthians 13 as she reminds students of the love of God and His expectations for His children. Mrs. Davis taught the True Love Waits curriculum this semester over an eight-week period on Sunday evenings.

Reception

A reception was held in honor of the students who made first-time commitments to purity or renewed their vows to God in the areas of personal purity and holy living.  The celebration continued long after the chocolate fountain stopped flowing.
