From the Director of Missions

Here we are in the fourth month of the year 2010, and I’m wondering where the time has gone. On April 29th, 2002, I walked into this office for the very first time as Director of Missions for the Double Mountain Area. This Area consisted of the Haskell Knox Association and the West Central Association. Since that time, I’ve witnessed the merging of those two into the Double Mountain Association. And I have to tell you, that it is one of the best things we’ve accomplished.

I’ve also witnessed the generosity of God’s people in so many ways. The Crossing Borders school supply drive is just one example of that. We started out with a goal of supplying at least 400 children in Mexico with the items they needed to start to school and you surpassed that the first year. Since then, you have set a new record each year in the number of supplies given. Last year, you exceeded the number 1,000. Folks, that means over one thousand children in Mexico were able to start to school because of your godly, giving, spirit.

Let me tell you, God has blessed this association in far too many ways for me to acknowledge in this article. He has used you, as individuals, and as churches, to touch the lives of many. But the greatest blessing He has bestowed, on all of us, is giving us the privilege to serve Him.

To God Be the Glory!

DMBA EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 - 10 a.m

Thank you so much for continuing to support your association. The success and activeness of this ministry rests on your financial support. In this time of so much desperate need, we know that there are many, many needs. We ask that you keep (or make) the Double Mountain Association a priority. It has survived for over 90
years and we want it to continue, and not just survive, but thrive, for the growing of the kingdom.

Ministry Assistant and Church Secretary Appreciation

Church Secretaries, be watching for your invitation to this year’s time of fellowship, and encouragement as we get together.

Due to some upcoming conflicts with some of our secretaries, we do not have a date yet, but will soon!

School Supplies for Mexico

This year, we will, once again collect money and school supply kits to go to Crossing Borders Ministry in Fabens. These kits are distributed to children through the pastors in Mexico. We are very grateful that Russ Ponder, Minister to Students, FBC, Hamlin, has offered to head up this effort in getting the supplies to Fabens. If anyone is interested in going please contact this office. The “shopping list” is the same as it has been, and the kits are to be packaged according to the three education levels. Please pack your kits in 2 gallon zip lock bags and mark as Primera, Secondaria, or Prepatoria. A church last year bought the bags and put shopping lists in each one, for church members. This is a great idea and makes it easier. If you send money, the youth at FBC, Hamlin will buy the supplies. Let’s make this another great year for this worthwhile, association wide mission effort! If you want to get an early start….

Shopping List is posted on the website http://www.dmbassociation.org

Download and print it now.

Or e-mail me at    [email protected]

and I will send it to you.   We will include a printed list  in our June/July newslettter.

Prayers, Praise, and Promises

The last newsletter you received started out this way; The year ends with a long, long, list of answered prayer, praise, and promises. That was in December. At this writing, I must start the same way, yet a bit modified; almost four months into 2010 and we already have a long, long, list of answered prayer, praise, and promises.

Most of you know that I (Cindy) fell the second week of January and broke a bone. Not just any bone – my right upper arm bone, medically referred to as the humerus. Where that name came from I do not know, because there has been nothing funny about it. After 3 months I am continuing to let mother nature do her healing, while I push through physical therapy. Mind you, I am not a “physical” person. I couldn’t touch my toes in grade school P.E. for heaven’s sake! And now I’ve been thrust into exercise with a broken bone. Thus, the most significant reason for no newsletter since last year.

Thank you all who have prayed for me (and Joe) and sent cards and prayer letters. I am getting better each day, and very thankful to be able to do the most menial tasks for myself.

We take for granted so much. Never before did I realize how the body works together. One part falls, and the rest suffers. So goes the body of Christ… each of us are called to serve, and given gifts to make the body complete. If one part suffers, the whole body suffers. There are a lot of suffering bodies… church bodies, as well as human bodies. If you are well, if your church is thriving, praise God, and ask Him how you can be used to help a fellow brother or sister, or church body that is not.

There is a time for everything… God is the perfect healer. Praise Him for the suffering death, and eternal life of Jesus Let Him use you today to show His healing power to others. Joyous Easter!
